Formula One Safety Changes

The Formula One race has always been a popular racing attraction. Although many have felt that the current state of the race has left numerous individuals bored with the overall format of the event. In order to heighten the safety of the drivers and the crews, as well as liven the event up a bit, 2011 has been the year for many changes in the format and standards of the race.

The bulk of these alterations have taken place in the realm of sporting regulatons, althought there have also been a few changes in the technical realm as well. A change to article 16:3 has increased the number of penalties that the stewards may impose for driving violations up from three. Four new penalties including an exclusion froma future event are now within the powers of the steward.A patron to the Formula 1 events will now also see an inclusion of formal driving standards for the races. Pit safety rules are now also a new regulation for the Formula 1. Pits will be closed off during the course of the race unless a car is qued to the pits. Also if cars are in the pits, they must exit in the same order that they entered the pit area.Formula One racers will now only use Pirelli tires. Each driver will be allocated a total of eleven sets. A gearbox regulation that entails its durability for five races has changed as well. There will also be curfews put into effect for the entrance on to the circuit prior to the races.

Drivers will also see a return of the 107% rules as well as a banning of team orders. Other such changes will also encompass body alterations to the vehicles as well as the weight and distribution of the vehicle and the power output of the engines.
